Chandigarh, Aug. 21 : Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday said his party Shiromani Akali Dal wants peace over Indo-Pak talks.
“We want peace; I would not comment further, it is up to them (the Centre),” Badal told the media here.
Badal said that it is the Centre’s duty to decide on NSA-level talks between India and Pakistan, and, it must cater to the needs of national interest.
“This is up to the central government. We keep ourselves confined to our limitations. The central government should see to the national interest because it is its duty,” he further added.
Pakistan has invited separatist Hurriyat leaders to meet with Sartaj Aziz, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security in Delhi.
It may be recalled that last year, the Indian Government cancelled foreign secretary-level talks for the same reason. (ANI)
