Mumbai: Actor Shiney Ahuja, accused of raping his 20-year-old domestic help, was seen crying and complaining of a severe backache at a fast-track Sewri court on Friday.
Additional sessions judge SR Trivedi directed the Arthur Road jail authorities to provide Ahuja with immediate medical assistance and take him to JJ Hospital if necessary after an application seeking treatment was moved by his lawyer.
The 36-year-old actor, who was unable to walk, was assisted into the courtroom by two constables. As soon as he took a seat, he cried out in pain. The constables then took him out of the courtroom and made him sit on a bench. Unable to bear the pain anymore, Ahuja lay down on the bench.
Following this, Ahuja’s lawyer Sameer Nangre moved an application seeking immediate medical attention. “He is suffering from acute backache because of a slipped disc,” Nangre said. Ahuja’s parents and wife, Anupam, were by his side.
The court was to pass an order on an application moved by Ahuja’s lawyer Shrikant Shivade, seeking the detailed documents of the DNA analysis. The application was rejected by the court which stated that the documents were not necessary for framing the charges against the actor.
The court is likely to frame charges against the actor on October 7.
