Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Monday stated that the Centre would take a decision on the Telangana statehood demand after taking all issues into consideration.
Talking to media persons, the Union Home Minister made it clear that there would be no all-party meeting seeking opinion of leaders on the issue at this stage and the government would take decision after taking pros and cons into consideration. However, he admitted that the government was holding consultations with all stakeholders and parties to take a decision on the issue soon.
When the reporters asked him about the Telangana Rashtra Samithi President K Chandrasekhar Rao’s claim that he got hints that Centre would take a decision on Telangana statehood by this September-end, Sushil Kumar Shinde said that the bifurcation of State issue needs deep study as it involves several sensitive issues like naxalism, particularly in the Telangana region. “Since I have assumed the charge as the Home Minister recently, I need some more time to understand the issue threadbare,” he pointed out.
When the reporters asked him about the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee called for Telangana March on September 30 as part of intensifying agitation, he said that the Home Ministry was getting reports on the latest stock of situation regularly and act accordingly. He admitted that the naxalism has grown manifold after the formation of Chattisgarah State.
