Shift industries beyond ORR by 2017: KTR

Industries and IT Minister KT Rama Rao today set a deadline of December 2017 to bulk drug manufacturing companies and the industries causing pollution in and around twin cities to shift to the outskirts beyond outer ring road (ORR).

The State government plans to shift as many as 1,068 industries causing pollution and steps are being taken to shift them out of ORR, he said. The government, KTR said, will offer special incentives to such industries to shift and set up new ones on world standards and using latest technologies.

At a special meeting with bulk drug manufacturing companies here on Saturday, KTR asserted that the government has taken a decision to free the twin cities from the pollution causing companies. The Minister declared that the State government has decided to shift these companies adding to the woes of pollution in the twin cities by the end of next year. “We will hold a special meeting with owners of industries in the city soon to pursue them for making our city clean and free from pollution and effluents, KTR stated. In first phase, 1,068 companies will be shifted beyond ORR and offer land at particular place for companies of similar type. (NSS)
