Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh, Shia and Sunni Muslims offered Eid-al-Adha namaz together. They stood shoulder to shoulder while offering namaz at Shia Imambara.
According to the report published in NDTV, the prayer was led by an Imam from Sunni sect. For the first time, women belonging to both the sect also offered prayer at the venue.
It may be mentioned that joint prayers on Eid was started four year ago.
After namaz, they prayed for peace and prosperity. They also prayed for the victim of floods in Kerala. Funds were raised for the relief work in Kerala. They deposited the collected money in Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
It may be noted that the Shoulder to Shoulder (S2S) Foundation was started in 2015. This foundation works for the peace and communal harmony.
One of the co-founders of the foundation, Dr Kauser Usman said that the joint prayer is a message of peace and brotherhood.
Another member by name Atif Haneef said that the foundation is working hard to spread the message of peace.
