Sheikh Hasina says verdict on Indo-Bangla sea dispute may go in favour of Bangladesh

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said she is hopeful that the verdict in the Bay of Bengal maritime boundary dispute with India will be in favour of Bangladesh.

Hasina expressed her views while speaking at the inaugural programme of National Fisheries Week 2014 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital, The Daily Star reports.

The verdict was to be announced by a Netherlands court in the maritime boundary dispute last month.

The rules of procedure of the Hague-based UN Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) says that the tribunal shall endeavour to render its Award within six months of the close of the proceedings, the report said.

The report added that the Tribunal concluded the hearing on December 18, 2013 at the Peace Palace in The Hague. (ANI)
