Sheikh Hasina meets Narendra Modi at 7 RCR

New Delhi, Aug.19 : Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a courtesy visit to her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Hasina was in New Delhi to offer her condolences to President Pranab Mukherjee over his wife Suvra Mukherjee’s demise. She also attended the funeral of India’s First Lady.

Hasina was received at the New Delhi airport by Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, said reports.

This is the first visit by Bangladesh Prime Minister after a historic land swap agreement between the two countries in Dhaka in June.

India and Bangladesh signed an agreement to simplify their 4,000-km (2,500-mile) border and clarify the identities of 52,000 living in the enclaves, over four decades after the neighbours first tried to untangle complex territorial rights set down in 1713.

Hasina is scheduled to leave for Dhaka this evening. (ANI)
