Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Shazia Ilmi will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday.
News agency ANI has quoted BJP leader Ashwani Upaadhyay as saying that Shazia will join the party at 3 pm today.
“We welcome her,” Upaadhyay said.
The development will come a day after her former Team Anna member Kiran Bedi joined the BJP in the presence of party president Amit Shah. Bedi is tipped to be the party’s CM candidate for Delhi polls; however, a formal announcement is yet to be made.
Shazia had yesterday not denied joining the BJP when asked by reporters. She had also promised to expose the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP “for what it is” over the next few days.
