Shashi Tharoor: We’ve taken up the SRK issue with the US embassy

Mumbai, August 22: Shah Rukh Khan’s detention at the Newark Airport, New Jersey, was one of the topics of discussion when Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State for External Affairs visited the prestigious Aligarh Muslim University.

Shashi Tharoor, while speaking to the fourth estate at a seminar organized in the sprawling University campus said, ”The External Affairs Ministry is very serious about the detention of Shah Rukh Khan at the Newark airport, and we have taken up the matter with the American embassy. We have already registered our protest through the appropriate medium.”

The charismatic minister while replying to questions said, ”The people of India are very hurt because of this insensitive treatment meted out to their favourite actor, which was uncalled in the name of security, and totally unnecessary. In fact several people, especially muslims traveling to the US have to endure this type of treatment, which is very hurting, humiliating as well as inconvenient for no fault of theirs. This puts a question mark on America’s policy and system. ”

Here’s hoping for some concrete action, rather than mere rhetorics, now that the minister has personally assured us!
