New Delhi, September 23: A sharpshooter of the ”Ravana” gang, allegedly involved in the killing of a traders” association president from UP, was arrested in the capital after a brief encounter, police said today. Puneet Kumar (25) was arrested yesterday from M2K PVR Cinema in Rohini with an automatic Italian pistol 7.65 bore, two live cartridges and a stolen motor cycle.
His arrest came 16 days after the gang leader, Narender Bhatti alias ”Ravana”, against whom a reward of Rs 50,000 was declared by the UP Police, was caught from Bishma Pitamah Marg near Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium by Delhi Police. Bhatti and Kumar were allegedly involved in the recent murder of Vinod Goel, president of a traders” association in Dadri, after he raised his voice against the regular demand for money.
On a tip-off that Kumar was seen in Rohini, a trap was laid near PVR Cinema and he was arrested after a brief encounter, a senior police official said. During interrogation, Kumar said that he started stealing bikes in 2005 and was arrested in three cases relating to motor vehicle theft.
“Then he entered in the business of cable network and came into contact of one Umesh, a resident of Loni in UP, who was also an active member of this gang. He persuaded him to join the ”Ravana” gang to earn quick money,” he said.
