Sharif in Karachi over Rangers issue

Karachi : Prime Minister(PM) Nawaz Sharif is on a one-day trip to Karachi without any officially scheduled meeting with Sindh Chief minister Qaim Ali Shah or discussion on the law and order situation in the city.

According to the reports, the PM can interact with the Chief Minister at the airport, where Mr Shah will receive Mr Sharif as per the official protocol.

However, as far as the agenda for the day is concerned, the prime minister has three back-to-back engagements, which don’t include a meeting with the Sindh CM on the issue of Rangers’ powers, the official said.

In a bid to sort out what the chief minister described recently as a minor misunderstanding over rangers’ powers, the Karachi corps commander and the director general of Rangers may also join the deliberations.

Sharif will have three official engagements, visit Port Qasim Authority to review development plans of the authority; review Port Qasim’s power project and address an FPCCI function.

The official said Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Water and Power and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Trade and Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir would accompany him during his visit to Karachi.(ANI)
