Hyderabad: Former Union minister and Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar today called on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at his camp office here.
After a warm welcome, KCR offered a shawl to Pawar on the occasion. The two top leaders closeted for about an hour and said to have discussed on national politics, national security, current political scenario in two Telugu States and others. Though what transpired between them in the meeting was not clear, it was surmised that Pawar might have sought KCR’s support for Presidential poll.
Sharad Pawar is reportedly planning to vie for the national top post and was on a mission to garner support from States that are close to him. Besides extending his support to Pawar for the President’s post if he will be in the race, KCR is understood to have promised to play an active role at national level to garner support from other political parties. Having offered support to statehood for Telangana at the national level during UPA-led Congress regime that fructified, Pawar is now seeking KCR’s support for the purpose, it is said.
It is pertinent to note that Sharad Pawar also attended Ayutha Maha Chandi Yagam at KCR’s Erravalli farm house recently. Pawar, who had an unfulfilled dream of becoming Prime Minister is now vouching for the President post, it is learnt. Former Union minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, who came to politics at the behest of Sharad Pawar, revealed that the latter is suitable leader to become the Prime Minister. It is likely that the former Maharashtra chief minister, who enjoys a strong clout at national level politics, may call on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and seek his support too. Sharad Pawar is to get support from many political friends of national importance some of them were at the helm affairs like former chief ministers Mulayam Singh Yadav and Lalu Prasad Yadav, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and JD-U leader Sharad Yadav and others.
