New Delhi: Rebel Janata Dal (United) leader, Sharad Yadav’s supporters have approached Election Commission of India with a demand to review their claim over the symbol of the party. They also sought four weeks’ time to get the signatures of all the supporters.
It may be mentioned that earlier, ECI had rejected the application due to insufficient supporting documents.
“We have applied with the Election Commission again for the party’s election symbol. Our previous application was not rejected but set aside by the Commission as it did not have the signature of Sharad Yadav,” Janata Dal-United (JD-U) General Secretary Arun Shrivastav told reporters here.

To show their strength, supporters of Sharad Yadav also called a meeting of anti-Nitish leaders of JD (U) on 17th September in Delhi
Reacting to the decision of ECI over the claim of party symbol last week, supporters of Nitish Kumar had claimed victory.
Meanwhile, Venkaiah Naidu, Chairman of Rajya Sabha issued notices to Sharad Yadav and Ali Anwar after the supporters of Nitish Kumar demanded cancellation of their membership, reports India Today.
