(NSS): Finding fault with the State Government for challenging the CAT’s judgment in the High Court with regard to the DGP Dinesh Reddy’s appointment, former minister Dr P Shanker Rao has said that the principal secretary P Goutham Kumar’s decision of voluntary retirement was quite painful.
Speaking to the media at CLP office premises here on Wednesday, Dr Rao said that CAT was a constitutional body, and questioned the State Government as to why it appealed in the High Court, instead of honouring it’s verdict, when the Tribunal directed the government to remove Dinesh Reddy from his post as he was not eligible for that post.
Alleging that the present government was giving top priority to a particular community (Reddy Community) officers, he said that till yesterday Goutham was a sincere officer. “Goutham Kumar has every qualification to become the DGP much earlier”, he said. He also questioned the Kiran Kumar Reddy government whether it was working in a transparent manner.
He said that the Union Minister Veerabhadra Singh was a leader who was winning the elections since 1962, but he tendered his resignation to his post when he faced the allegation few days ago. He asked the State leaders, who were facing allegations, to emulate Veerabhadra Singh and tender their resignations. “People are facing embarrassing situation in the State for having such leaders”, he said.
Stating that dark days were coming in the State, Dr Rao has said that the Central Government was also Congress Government and the State Government has to follow it. He said that the Congress party will be confined to 90 MLAs if Kiran Kumar Reddy continued as the Chief Minister of the State
even after 2014.
