Lambasting indirectly Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Director General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy for detaining her father Cantonment MLA Dr P. Shanker Rao in atrocious manner, Sushmitha has demanded that the State government order CBI inquiry into the police excesses immediately. She also made it clear that CB-CID inquiry was not acceptable to the family.
Speaking to the media at Shanker Rao’s residence at Ramnagar here on Sunday, along with her mother Vishwa Shanthi, Sushmitha alleged that the police have changed their version within an hour after arresting her father Dr Shanker Rao saying that they only took him away for inquiry into the Green Field Lands issue. Stating that the police brushed aside her pleas that they have court order against the arrest, she claimed that the police replied that the higher officials were pressuring them to arrest Shanker Rao. She bemoaned that the police officials threw the court order like a “waste paper”.
Questioning how the police could render justice to the poor and protect law and order when they scornfully threw away the court order copy, Sushmitha alleged that the policemen even manhandled and pushed her mother aside. She also alleged that the cops did not give even two minutes when the former minister told them that he would take a tablet.
She said her father has nothing to do with the Green Field land issue. She alleged that the police intentionally linked her father to a criminal case though it was a civil dispute. She made it clear that her father would not stop his fight against corruption and possessed a list of corrupt people. She said that her father never fights against corrupt people without having adequate evidence. She also reminded that her father had already declared in August last that he would cooperate with the inquiry.
Stating that Shanker Rao was a ‘Dalit Tiger’, who would not stop his crusade against corrupt sharks, Sushmitha declared that as a daughter she would fight against those who were behind her father’s arrest and humiliation.
Alleging that those against whom her father filed a case in October were behind Shanker Rao arrest on January 31, she asked the police whether they behaved in similar manner when they arrested MIM leaders Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi.
She alleged that the police behaved atrociously because her father was a Dalit and dragged him like a sheep. Alleging that the police were trying to malign Shanker Rao, who has no bad mark, she appealed to the people to fight against the leaders who were behind her father’s arrest. She also pointed out that her father has been working since the last 30 years for the welfare of Dalits and strengthening the Congress.
Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha today visited Care hospital and consoled Dr Shanker Rao, who was undergoing treatment.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha demanded that the DGP tender an unconditional public apology to Shanker Rao. She has alleged that the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was behaving differently with those whom he hates and those who likes. She also demanded that the government give an explanation on Shanker Rao’s episode.
