Shankar Rao to represent AP at Turkish handloom expo

Hyderabad, February 1: Handlooms and Textiles Minister Shankar Rao will represent Andhra Pradesh during an international exhibition on handloom products to be held in Turkey between February 3 and 6.
Talking to media persons at the Secretariat on Monday, Dr Shankar Rao revealed that the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry has invited industries from Andhra Pradesh to participate in the Turkish exhibition with an objective to promote Indian image as also to provide a platform for industries to showcase their strength and capabilities in an emerging and developing market of that country.
Several handloom products are likely to be showcased along with others in that country during the exhibition.
The new foreign trade policy as announced by Union Commerce and Industries Minister Anand Sharma for 2009-2014 seeks to promote Brand India through six or more ‘Made in India’ shows to be organised across the world every year.

The current effort was to provide proper exposure to Indian products in Turkey and Dr Shankar Rao will represent the state during the exhibition.

Referring to the ongoing Racha Banda, Dr Shankar Rao gave an understanding that it provided a platform to provide benefits to the poor and that it went on peacefully.
