Shankar Rao deplores filing cases against TRS leaders

Finding fault with the police department for registering serious cases against the TRS leaders, particularly Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao, former Minister Dr P Shanker Rao has said that the TRS MLAs had staged dharna at Vidyuth Soudha for the sake of the people and not for them.

Speaking to the media at CLP office here on Saturday, Dr Rao said that the power situation in the State was not good and the TRS MLAs had staged dharna at Vidyuth Soudha demanding the State Government to supply seven hours power to the agriculture sector. He said that staging dharnas and protest programs against the government’s failures were Opposition parties’ duty. He said that the Congress party had also staged several dharnas against the then TDP government with regard to power crisis. Dr Rao said that the Congress leaders should not forget the fact that the TDP has lost power following the ‘current shock’, and people entrusted power to the Congress party.

Welcoming the Court verdict in favour of the Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the 2G-Scam, he said that the Opposition parties unnecessarily raised a hue and cry against Chidambaram. He also said that the main Opposition party BJP was wasting the valuable time of the Parliament on the Coal blocs issue.

Stating that the State Government had faced embarrassing moments even in Supreme Court in regard to the appointment of Director General of Police, Dr Rao has asked as to why the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was batting for the sake of V Dinesh Reddy, and said that it was proving that the Chief Minister was giving top priority to one particular Community instead of accepting the verdict.

He alleged that the State Government had gifted a transfer certificate to Rangareddy Collector Seshadri for striving hard to protect the government lands.
