Shankar Rao demands White Paper on naxal violence

Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Friday demanded that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy release a White Paper to prove his claim that the division of Andhra Pradesh would lead to a spurt in the naxal violence.

Talking to reporters here, Shankar Rao alleged that the Chief Minister made a factually incorrect and misleading statement before the Group of Ministers (GoM) to stop the ongoing process of formation of Telangana. He said that the Maoists’ violence was wrongly being used a reason to instill fear among the people and mislead the Centre. He said that the Chief Minister’s contention has been denied by former DGP V Dinesh Reddy himself.

Therefore, Shankar Rao said that the Chief Minister should come out White Paper on the issue if he was convinced about his claim. He described Kiran Kumar Reddy as an established liar and alleged that such a person could not be born in the next 100 years.

Stating that the Chief Minister might not be able to complete three years in office on November 25th, he demanded the Congress High Command take serious disciplinary action against Kiran Kumar Reddy for speaking and taking a stand against the decision by the Congress Working Committee on Telangana.

Shankar Rao also wrote letters to Congress High Command including party president Sonia Gandhi requesting them to declare Rahul Gandhi as party’s Prime Ministerial candidate. (INN)
