Former Minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Friday expressed concern over the non-utilisation of Central funds due to the delay in conduct of Panchayat Raj elections in the State.
Referring to the statement of Union Cabinet Minister V Kishore Chandra Suraya Narayana Deo wherein he stated that Rs 30,000 crore Central funds have been block due to non-conduct of Panchayat Raj elections in the State, he said that the State would continue to lose those funds unless the elections were held. He demanded that the government immediate conduct Panchayat Raj elections in the State so that the Central fund could be utilized for the welfare of the people.
Talking to media persons in the assembly premises, he said that the State Government which is organising Indiramma Bata Programme has to strive hard to make it an error free and successful as the Raccha Banda programmes organized earlier. He said that the government would have to address people’s grievances so that the mistakes done in the past could be rectified.
Dr Shankar Rao said that State was reeling under power crisis and it would incur bad name to the government. He demanded that the State Government take immediate steps to overcome with the crisis.
