Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Friday condemned Shiv Sena chief Udhav Thackery for criticising the meeting between AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Delhi Jama Masjid’s Shahi Imam Ahmed Bukhari.
Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises here, Shankar Rao faulted Thackery for writing an editorial in Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Saamna against Sonia Gandhi’s meeting with Ahmed Bukhari. He said that the Congress party has always maintained good relationship with the religious leaders and often consulted them on the issues concerning their community. Therefore, Thackery’s criticism was not tolerable, he said.
He also criticised MJ Akbar, who had recently joined the BJP, for criticising the Sonia Gandhi-Bukhari meeting. (INN)
