Shankar lays stone for Sonia Temple

Former minister and Cantonment MLA Shankar Rao today laid foundation stone for a temple of AICC president Sonia Gandhi for her efforts in formation of Telangana State.
The temple is being constructed at Nandigaon village under Kottur mandal in Mahbubnagar district. The stone laying ceremony coincides with the birth day of Sonia Gandhi today.

Speaking on the occasion, Shankar Rao said they were building a temple of Sonia Gandhi for her gesture of conceding Telangana State. “We have decided to build the temple in the name of Mahakshetram and Sonia Gandhi Shantivanam, he said. It was failure of local leadership in four States where election results went against the party, Rao said, adding that the party cadre in Andhra Pradesh also was in the same position. However, local BJP leaders opposed building a temple of Sonia Gandhi and warned they would dismantle the structure.

Holding Sonia Gandhi responsible for killing of Telangana students, who committed suicide for Telangana, BJP leaders asked how a temple in the name of Sonia Gandhi could be built as she was responsible for death of so many students. (NSS)
