Shameless activities on New Year Celebrations intolerable: A K Khan

Hyderabad, December 24: City police have imposed several restrictions on revellers celebrating the New Year and said that uncultured, ill-mannered and shameless activities will not be tolerated. Police have started taking measures a week ahead of the beginning of New Year.

It is being tried to make the 31st December night accident free this year. In this connection police commissioner A K Khan convened a meeting of managers of bars, restaurants, pubs, star hotels and clubs besides event managers. Restrictions have been imposed upon them saying that keeping the places of celebration open after 1 o’clock in the night will call for strict legal action. In an attempt to prevent road accidents, police have also decided to deal firmly with drunken driving.

All flyovers in the city would be closed for traffic on the night of Dec 31 while Tank Bund on Hussain Sagar Lake would also be out of bounds for revellers.

Khan also warned the hotels and bars that police would not tolerate any obscenity and nudity during the dance and other performances. They were asked to wind up the programmes by 1 a.m. and maintain sound levels at 45 decibels and less. The police will have audiometers in place.
