Hyderabad, July 03 (Zahed Farooqui): Islamic apologist and writer Zakir Abdul Karim Naik is a public speaker on the subject of Islam and other comparative religion. His lectures directed towards removing misconceptions about Islam.
A medical doctor by profession, Naik has done Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Mumbai.
According to him, his goal is to “concentrate on the educated Muslim youth who have become apologetic about their own religion and have started to feel the religion is outdated”, He considers it a duty of every Muslim to remove perceived misconceptions about Islam to counter, what he views as the Western media’s anti-Islamic bias in the aftermath of September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks upon the United States. But at the same time Naik has been denied entry into United Kingdom and Canada since June 2010 owing to his alleged soft approach on Jihad.

Let us first know what exactly Dr. Naik has said which becomes a cause to ban him from the two countries: “You heard the Muslims saying Osama Bin Laden is right or wrong. I reject them. We don’t know. But if you ask my view, if this is the truth, if he is fighting the enemies of Islam, I am for him. I don’t know what he’s doing. I’m not in touch with him. I don’t know him personally. I read the newspaper. If he is terrorising the terrorists, if he is terrorising America the terrorist, the biggest terrorist, I am with him . The thing is, if he’s terrorising a terrorist, he’s following Islam.”
But the above quote is from a lecture that Zakir Naik delivered in 1996, almost five years before 9/11.
So here the question arises that what made the UK and Canadian Government to ban him after a long period of 14 years? After the banning controversy Dr. Naik quoted in a statement that it’s a political game against him. How far his words are true?
But again the question arises against Dr. Naik, when he appeared on NDTV few months back Anchor Barkha Dutt threw the same statement at him, what stopped him from coming clean?

The Western proceedings of bias judgments against Muslim and the more serious of these offenses included assaults against Muslim religious leaders. Now we have to decide whether to support Dr. Zakir Naik or not, because if we see this issue from the global eyes, this appears to be a western war against Islam. Is it not?
