Shakeel Ahmad question Rajasthan Government’s reported move to scrap NREGA

Congress Party leader Shakeel Ahmad on Saturday condemned Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje’s reported move to scrap the NREGA scheme, citing that it would be a ‘punishment’ for the poor people of the region.

Ahmad told ANI “We should try to strengthen and re-assess the scheme, but scrapping off a scheme like NREGA will be against national interest and against the interest of the poor people.”

He said “the ruling party admitted that poor people are getting more and more money through NREGA, which increased their purchasing power.

Raje recently suggested to the Centre to change the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act ( NREGA) into a scheme. She said that the act needed a rethink. (ANI)
