There used to be immigration office of Qutub Shahi dynasty in Shaikpet. All those experts, intellectuals and traders had to register their names in Shaikpet to enter the fort of Mohammed Nagar (Golconda). This office used to be closed after Magrib prayer. In order to facilitate the travelers coming after Magrib, a rest house was constructed. It consisted of 36 spacious halls spreading over an area 9815 sq. yards. Even today it is in good condition. The Dept. of Archeology is getting it renovated at the cost of Rs. One crore. Shaikpet has now become the abode of 90% of non-Muslims. It has 21 tombs, 16 Qutub Shahi mosques, 9 Muslim graveyards, 7 Chowkhandis and 2 Chillas. At present, out of 18 mosques, 14 are uninhabited, whereas 4 mosques have disappeared and the non-Muslims have included 2 mosques into the premises of their residential houses. A private school has very cleverly covered a mosque. There is one such mosque in Shiakpet where Muslims are not allowed to offer their prayers. The Dept. of Water Works has included one mosque into its office and closed its passage from all the four sides. It is also constructed a Water Reservoir on a Muslim graveyard. The Staff Reporter of Siasat has all the records of wakf properties of this area. This area comes under the jurisdiction of Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency. By seeing the destruction of mosques, Dargahs, Graveyards, Tombs and other wakf properties, it looks as if the existence of the remaining mosques will also be vanished. Alas! If we could wake up from our sleep.
