Shaikhpet hit-and-run case: 2 nurses in ICU

Hyderabad: 19-year-old Srikanth had injured the 12 nursing students in Shaikhpet while recklessly driving on Monday. Two of the four nurses who were grievously injured, are in ICU at Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills. According to hospital sources said that the condition of Leena and Yogitha, was stable. Yogitha might be discharged on Wednesday, however Leena who suffered multiple fractures and underwent an operation, might continue to stay at the hospital for further treatment. The other two nurses, Priya and Sumithra who were also injured in the accident were discharged after treatment.

The accused is yet to be arrested by Banjara Hills Police. It must be recalled that the nurses were waiting outside a PHC at 9:30 am in Shaikhpet when the driver rammed into them after hitting a few two-wheelers parked along the roadside. The nurses were on a door-to-door inspection duty on the second day of the pulse polio immunization programme.
