Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal’s term not extended

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu makes lofty claims regarding Minority Welfare and protection of Waqf properties but Muslims of Andhra Pradesh faced disappointment when the term of Competent Authority of Waqf Board, Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal (IPS), who played key role in protection of Waqf properties, was not extended even 15 days after expiry of his term.

Besides Muslim leaders of ruling party, leaders of opposition parties also made representation with Chief Minister in this connection and expressed concern over the situation.

Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal has taken several key steps after taking charge as Competent Authority. His term expired on November 5. Secretary Minority Welfare SS Rawat and Minority Welfare Minister Dr. P Raghunath Reddy had already sent the file to chief minister, for extension of his services.

It is said that Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal has registered criminal cases against some influential political personalities for land grabbing. Consequently those persons are opposing Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal’s extension.
