Mumbai, June 07: Despite having vowed to not do anymore cameos in films, Shahrukh Khan went out of his way to make a guest appearance in good friend Makrand Deshpande’s film ‘Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu’.
The movie which carries the star’s name went on the floors on November 2 last year, which incidentally was also SRK’s birthday. But its idea germinated many years ago when Makrand was working with SRK in Swades and proposed to cast the actor in a small role in his directorial venture.
Ever since the shoot began, Makrand has been in touch with Shahrukh, but the superstar was extremely busy and later injured his shoulder. Recently, the King Khan called Makrand at his house Mannat to finalize the shoot.
Makrand needed to shoot a scene in which SRK, playing himself, compliments a flower selling girl on a traffic signal and tells her she’s beautiful. The girl is the story’s protagonist.
During the shoot held recently, SRK not just allowed Makrand to shoot at his bungalow but also lent his personal car for a scene. Shahrukh completed his scenes before leaving to shoot for Karan Johar ’s film My Name Is Khan abroad.
When it comes to cameos, Shahrukh finds hard to say no to friends. Last year, apart from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi he mostly did cameos in films. But after a bad experience with producer-cum-friend Vivek Vaswani for his film Dulha Mil Gaya , SRK made it clear that he won’t do cameos anymore.
However, since he had given his word to Makrand much earlier, the superstar stood by his promise.
