Shahid Kapoor cheers ‘Udta Punjab’s victory flight

New Delhi : Shahid Kapoor is flying high after the Bombay High Court today asked the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to give the film ‘Udta Punjab’ an A certificate with just one cut.

The 35-year-old actor took to his Twitter page to say, “Landmark judgement#UdtaPunjab will fly and so will the voice of freedom and expression. Thank you all for the support. This is your victory.”

Ever since the Abhishek Chaubey-directorial knocked the doors of CBFC for a certificate, it has been mired in controversy over CBFC’s claims that the film depicts the state of Punjab and its drug issues in a negative light.

The film has been battling out the cuts made by CBFC in the Bombay High Court. Out of 89 cuts, HC has asked to implement only one cut.

Co-produced by Phantom Films and Balaji Motion Pictures, ‘Udta Punjab’, a highly talked about movie that is being keenly anticipated by a large section of youth, is based on substance abuse in Punjab.

The movie also starring Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh was slated for a June 17 release. (ANI)
