Thanks to the carelessness of Minority Welfare Department and narrow-mindedness of electricity department the Shahi Masjid, Public Garden remained plunged into darkness on the sacred night of Shab-e-Meraj.
Although the power was disrupted in the city now and then, due to heavy rain but the power was restored at Shahi Masjid after two days i.e. on June 19 that too temporarily and it is said that the power is likely to be disrupted again in the morning of June 20.
When the electricity department’s attention was drawn towards the matter the department refused for immediate repair and till now repair works have not been initiated. Temporary connection had been given through service wire but due to disruption in electric flow, power remained disrupted at the mosque located in the heart of the city for 2 days.
Though the Minority Welfare Department has sanctioned generators for Makkah Masjid and Shahi Masjid but no order has been issued to install the sanctioned generators so far.
