Shahi Imam on Modi govt.’s decision on Kashmir

New Delhi: Opposing Modi government’s decision to split Jammu and Kashmir into two parts, converting it into Union Territory and scrapping of Article 370 and 35A, Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari declared the decision as wrong. He claimed that it will increase separatism and terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Issuing a statement here Shahi Imam Maulana Syed Ahmed Bukhari said we are not surprised because this had been in the agenda of RSS for the past 50 years. However, he called the decision of changing Kashmir’s geographical status and striping it off its special status.

The move can give short-lived political and electoral benefit but it can damage our national interest, he said.

Calling the issue as a national problem, Imam Bukhari appealed people and all political parties to show prudence and not make it a Hindu-Muslim issue.
