Dubai, August 03: Eid celebrations in Dubai promises to be a memorable one, with a bevy of international stars making their way to our shores to shake a hip or croon a tune in our honour.
Arguably, the largest party will be part of the Shoppiesta consumer fair, with American rapper and actor Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent, who will share the limelight with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
The event, which will be held across five days at Meydan beginning August 31, will also see on and off screen rivals, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra grooving on stage, while Arab fans will be wowed by Eid regular, Nancy Ajram.
Things will kick off with an Arabic night on August 31 featuring Ajram alongside Melheim Zein; the following evening will see Filipino pop group South Border. On September 2, Iran’s famous talent Googoosh will take to the stage, while Indian musicans Shankar Mahadevan and Hariharan will perform on September 3.
The event will come to a grand finale the following night with the Bollywood brigade, Khan, Chopra and Kapoor, who will supposedly party on with 50 Cent.
While ticket details have yet to emerge for this event, another musical spectacle scheduled for Eid features cross border musicians, with Pakistan’s Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who will croon alongside Shafqat Ali Khan. And adding to the glam quotient will be Indian singer, Richa Sharma of “Sajda” fame from “My Name is Khan”.
Called Eid-E-Milan, the September 9 event, is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre and has been organised by Cyclops Communication. Tickets start at Dh140 and go up to Dh1,400. Show starts at 9pm.
Lastly, also expected in town during those very days is the award winning Indian singer, Sonu Niigam, who is most certainly going to demand a full house. More details for this event have yet to emerge.
