Hyderabad: Cyberabad cyber crime police arrested an MBA student from the old city of Hyderabad for spreading defamatory content against Shah Ghouse hotel. The accused, V Chandra Mohan (22), spread the message that dog’s meat was found in Shah Ghouse restaurant. As the rumours spread wide and fast some TV Channels also aired news bulletin without verifying the information which tarnished the image of hotel. Hotel proprietor Mr. Mohammed Rabbani had lodged a defamation complaint with Cyber Crime police.
Chandra Mohan is an MBA student R/O Rikab Gunj, Madina. During interrogation he told that he had received a message in one of the WhatsApp groups that somewhere in India, a hotel was seen mixing dog’s meat to adulterate non-vegetarian items. Chandra Mohan, with an intent to create panic among his friends, changed the message and posted images of slaughtered dogs on the social media in his school friends group stating that dog’s meat was found in Shah Ghouse restaurant on December 8. As a result, the owner of the restaurant was arrested by the police.
The hotel management has filed a complaint with the Cyberabad Police stating that the rumours about dog meat were false and spread to defame the hotel. It also demanded to action against two TV channels for telecasting fake news against them.
