Hyderabad: The Muslims of Kamareddy on Monday passed a resolution before Eid-ul-Azha prayers demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiate action against Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for his derogatory comments against Kashmiri women.
Addressing the gathering before prayers, senior Congress leader and former minister Shabbir Ali condemned Khattar’s “insensible and highly provocative” statement. He said while the Prime Minister was talking about the beginning of a new era after the abolition of Article 370, the BJP leaders were making derogatory comments against the women of Kashmir.
The Congress leader said while everyone was praying for the restoration of normalcy in Kashmir, the BJP leaders were making provocative statements to disturb the peace.
He urged the Prime Minister to take action against Harayana CM and other leaders, who made provocative statements on Kashmiri women. For the first time, a resolution was passed before Eid prayers on an issue related to the community. Thousands of Muslims, who attended the prayers at Eid Gah, unanimously supported the resolution. He said there was a threat to the secular and democratic fabric of India and all Muslims must work hard to protect the unity and integrity of the nation.
After the prayers, thousands of Muslims also prayed for sufficient rains, the prevalence of peace and prosperity of Telangana State and India.
