Shabbir hails Ashok Chavan for Congress win in Nanded civic polls

Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in TSLC Mohammed Ali Shabbir congratulated former Maharashtra Chief Minister. Ashok Chavan, MP for massive victory of the Congress candidates at the just-concluded Nanded-Waghala Municipal Corporation (NWMC) Elections.

Shabbir, who is on a tour of Europe said in a communication from Spain that the victory in the civic elections of Nanded was a slap in the face of communal elements represented by the Shivsena, MIM and the BJP and  a shot in arm to the secular forces represented by the Congress. He said the Nanded outcome exposed the true colors of the MIM which was claiming  that the entire Old City development was done by them, even  simple rain in old city creating water logging and traffic jams. It seems that the people have realized that MIM is “Vote Split party” was also hand in glove with communal forces and its objective in contesting at Nanded was just to split the secular votes and give victory advantage to communal forces led by BJP and Shivsena.

Shabbir said days were not far when the intelligent but poor people of Old city of Hyderabad also realise their fault in supporting the MIM and make Hyderabad as the Congress bastion once again. He also said the true colour of MIM was highlighted during the election campaigning. He said the victory in the home turf of former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan, now  local MP, has reinstated the “Ache Din” for Congress with signals that the trend would continue  till the general  elections of 2019 for Parliament.

As per the latest information, Congress won 63  seats of the  81-seat (NWMC) and the AIMIM has not opened its account. (NSS)
