Shabbir demands ordinance for 12% job quota to Muslims & STs

Welcoming the TRS government’s move to fill 15,000 vacancies, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has demanded that the State government immediately issue an ordinance to provide 12% quota each for Muslims and Scheduled Tribes (STs) in those jobs.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, Shabbir Ali reminded that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, during election campaign, had promised to provide over one lakh jobs. He reduced the figure to 50,000 after he came to power. A year later, he assured to fill 25,000 vacancies and finally, he signed files pertaining to only 15,000 jobs. He said the Chief Minister should honor his promise of giving 12% quota for Muslims and STs in jobs.

“This opportunity will not come again. Once the vacancies are filled, Muslims and STs will be permanently deprived of opportunity to get government jobs. Therefore, the TRS Government must issue an ordinance giving reservation to Muslims and STs in accordance with job notifications,” he demanded.

He also accused KCR of completely neglecting the welfare of weaker sections. Shabbir Ali said the TRS Government also ignored welfare of farming community. He lamented that the Chief Minister did not care to hold a high-level review meeting despite the farmers losing almost 90% of crops due to poor monsoon. (NSS)
