Demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi cancel the newly- introduced Rs 2000 notes and review on cancellation of existing Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes immediately, Leader of Opposition in the Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir asked Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao as to why he didn’t respond on the notes issue yet.
Shabbir Ali also demanded that the Prime Minister first arrest the 648 millionaires, who hid their black money in foreign countries. “Lakhs of crores of rupees would have been in Centre’s coffers had it arrested 648 millionaires instead of troubling the common man by invalidating the big notes. He also asked the Prime Minister whether 100 crore poor people or 20 crore rich people were important for him.
Speaking to the media at Assembly Media Hall here on Saturday, Shabbir Ali alleged that the Centre introduced Rs 2000 notes only to encourage corruption further. He pointed out no big people were standing in the queues at the banks and post offices except the poor. He also alleged that the Prime Minister might have alerted Ambani and Adhani on cancellation of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes and hence they were least bothered about the new development.
Shabbir Ali said the poor people were committing suicides with the Centre’s sudden decision. They will suffer severely with this decision, he alleged. Pointing out the Prime Minister’s assurance to flush out black money before elections and the Centre will deposit Rs 15 lakh in every one’s account, Shabbir alleged that the Prime Minister was enacting dramas for the sake of rich people.
Wondering at the silence of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Shabbir Ali asked the former to respond on the prevailing situation in the State with the cancellation of the old notes and introduction of the new Rs.2000 notes. He asked Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya to tell as to why the latter responded on the meeting between Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Governor ESL Narasimhan. (NSS)
