Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has asked Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to direct the Revenue Department to withdraw all the cases in favour of State Wakf Board to restore Wakf properties.
In an open letter to the Chief Minister, Shabbir Ali said hundreds of cases over the ownership of land are going on between the Revenue Department and Wakf Board. Therefore, the State Government should make the Revenue Department withdraw all cases in favour of Wakf Board. He said a firm decision and single line direction to the Revenue Department would lead to restoration of thousands of acres of Wakf land which are under dispute for the last several decades.
Citing an example, he said that the then Congress Government had restored over 5,300 acres of Wakf land belonging to Dargah Hazrath Ishaq Madani Auliya (RA) through GO. MS. No. 10, Dated 7th March, 2008 by making the Revenue Department withdraw all the cases against Wakf Board. (NSS)
