The Congress party today alleged that the Agriculture Mechanization Scheme launched by the TRS government has become a “gift” to ineligible candidates.
Raising the issue in the Council on Thursday, Leader of the Opposition Mohammed Ali Shabbir and MLC Akula Lalitha alleged that the State government has sanctioned tractors to those who were not involved in agriculture activities. Shabbir Ali also threw a challenge to the government that he was ready to prove his charge. He alleged that the TRS government was not sanctioning tractors to the people who were recommended by the Congress leaders.
Reacting to the allegation, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy dismissed the charge made by the Congress members. He asserted that the government was giving tractors only to the farmers, who have two-and-a-half acres of land in order to encourage agriculture production. (NSS)
