Shabbir Ali welcomes KCR’s threatening call to dissolve Assembly

Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has welcomed the threatening call given by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to his party MLAs stating that he would dissolve the State Assembly if TRS loses the fifth seat in MLC polls.

Addressing a press conference at Congress Legislature Party office here on Saturday, Shabbir Ali said that KCR should honour his own words and seek fresh mandate at the earliest. He said KCR’s statement on going for fresh polls, within one year of coming to power, reflects his lack of faith on the MLAs of his own party. “In 2014 polls, KCR had no expectations of winning the elections. He himself was shocked by the results. He did not trust the TRS MLAs from Day-1. For the same reason, despite having majority in the House, he lured MLAs of other parties to prevent any possible revolt. He even inducted traitors of Telangana into his cabinet. The fresh statement proves that KCR still has no faith on TRS MLAs and feels that they will resort to cross-voting in MLC elections,” he said.

Shabbir Ali said instead of surviving through “kiraye kay tattu” (MLAs who defected to TRS), it would be better that KCR go for fresh elections to end the nuisance of defectors for once and all. He said people will decide the fate of KCR who made a mockery of democracy.

When asked for reaction on KCR’s claim that only TRS and MIM would survive in next polls, Shabbir Ali said people decide the fate of parties and not KCR. With regard to MIM, he said that the party has gained notoriety for switching loyalties. It sailed with the Congress party for 10 years and it has now aligned with the TRS. “We will give an answer to MIM on the streets of Hyderabad during GHMC elections,” he said. (INN)
