Shabbir Ali threatens protest against cases on farmers

Deputy CLP leader in Telangana Assembly Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Tuesday warned of protests if the Telangana Government registers cases against farmers.

He was speaking to media persons after visiting the farmers who were injured due to police lathicharge on NH-44 near Narsingi at Chegunta mandal in Medak district on Monday. Accusing the TRS Government of using force to suppress the farmers’ protest against erratic power supply, Shabbir Ali warned the government against registering any cases against farmers. He said that the Telangana Congress would stage dharna before the camp office of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao if cases are booked against farmers.

Shabbir Ali alleged that by resorting to brutal lathicharge, the State Government was trying to instill fear among farmers in order to prevent them from holding protests in future. He said that government’s failure to implement the promise of loan waiver and inability to supply power to farmers would certainly result in outbursts of anger. Instead of finding means to suppress agitation, the government should start addressing the real concerns of farming community, he demanded. (INN)
