Telangana PCC Vice-President and Deputy CLP leader in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Saturday launched membership drive in Kamareddy of Nizamabad district.
Speaking on the occasion, Shabbir Ali said that there has been an overwhelming response to the membership drive across Telangana. He said in less than six month after coming to power, the TRS Government has disappointed all sections of the society. The response to the Congress membership drive is a proof of rising anti-incumbency factor. Instead of taking up welfare measures, the TRS Government started depriving deserving beneficiaries of their rights. The pension beneficiaries have been reduced by almost 60 per cent. Several old age people have been denied pensions by the new government. Similarly, more than 60 per cent are not likely to lose their ration cards.
Shabbir Ali said farmers are totally disappointed with the TRS Government which cheated them on the issue of crop loan waiver. Inadequate and erratic power supply caused heavy damage to their crops in Khariff season. Instead of supplying them the promised eight-hour power, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is advising farmers to change the crop pattern during Rabi season.
The Congress leader has listed out the failures of TRS Government. He said that the Intensive Houshold Survey proved to be a futile exercise as nearly 30 per cent households were left out.
Shabbir Ali also criticised the government for not including all the martyrs of Telangana in the list released through GO Ms No 36 dated October 27, 2014. He said several martyrs, who laid down their lives for the statehood cause, were left out. Citing instances, he said one person – Karim of Kamareddy sacrificed his life for Telangana. His body was kept at the residence of sitting MLA Gampa Govardhan Reddy and the next day he resigned from TDP to join TRS. But Karim’s name is not included in the list. Similarly, another person Naresh of Isaipet committed suicide for Telangana cause. TRS leaders and presently ministers – T Harish Rao and Etala Rajender personally visited his house. But Naresh name is not included in the martyrs list.
The Congress leader said that the Telangana Govenrment cheated the families of Telangana martyrs, farmers, students, old age and physically handicapped persons and all other sections of the society. Of late, people have started realising that they made a mistake by voting for TRS and therefore, they are now joining the Congress party to give a fitting reply against the injustices being done to them.
