Shabbir Ali asks Naidu to resign to facilitate fair probe

Leader of Opposition Mohammed Ali Shabbir asked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to resign from his post to facilitate a fair probe into the ‘Cash for Vote’ case.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, Shabbir Ali said Naidu himself got trapped in the game of horse-trading of legislators which he began in 1995 to dethrone late N T Rama Rao. He introduced the politics of luring MLAs with money to achieve the top post. Interestingly, his previous partner in the game, K Chandrashekar Rao, has now turned his rival and got him trapped. “If Naidu still believes in some ethics and morals, he should resign from his post and face the probe,” he demanded.

Shabbir Ali also advised Naidu to make late NTR’s son Balakrishna the next Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh so as to undo the injustice which he had done to late NTR through the politics of horse-trading of MLAs. With this, NTR’s soul will rest in peace. He said Naidu should support the Anti-Corruption Bureau in conducting a fair investigation.

The Congress leader alleged that TDP leaders were giving contradictory statements on Naidu’s audio exposed by the media. While Parakala Prabhakar has alleged that Naidu tape was cooked up, Errabelli Dayakar Rao tried to defend Naidu saying what was wrong in seeking vote. He said Naidu should first resign and come out clean if he was not involved in the incident.

Shabbir Ali said it was now irrelevant to go into the details of who leaked those videos to the media. “Whatever has been shown by the media clearly proves that TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy tried to bribe nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson using money and the entire proceedings took place at the instance of Chandrababu Naidu,” he said.

When asked whether he supports Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on the issue, Shabbir Ali clarified that he was only supporting the investigation being done by the ACB into ‘Cash for Vote’ case. “Naidu and KCR are like ‘Guru-Shishya’ (Teacher – Student). While Naidu is being called a ‘thief’ after he was caught, KCR too purchased MLAs, MLCs, MPTCs, ZPTCs, MPP, Municipal Chairmen, Sarpanches and other leaders belonging to different parties,” he said.
