Shabbir Ali accorded rousing reception in Kamareddy

Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir was accorded a rousing reception by the people of Kamareddy constituency, especially the workers of Congress party when he visited the home town on Thursday, first time after assuming the new post.

The roads leading to Kamareddy were adorned with welcome arches, life-size banners, posters and Congress party’s flags. Shabbir Ali was first received at Basvapur village by hundreds of Congress workers. He was then taken in a huge bike rally to Kamareddy. Enroute, reception dais were set up at various places where large number of Congress workers joined the rally. More than 3,000 bikes and nearly 200 cars formed the convoy which was led by Shabbir Ali in an open jeep. Despite scorching heat, nearly 5,000 workers participated in the rally which culminated in a public meeting at Kamareddy.

Several senior leaders including former MP of Zaheerabad Suresh Kumar Shetkar participated in the rally.

Addressing the gatherings enroute, Shabbir Ali thanked AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi for elevating him to the post of Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council. He said his appointment to the post has only strengthened his resolve to fight against the anti-people policies of TRS Government.

Enroute, he was received by the local residents who garlanded him on his appointment as the Leader of Opposition. Shabbir Ali personallyy met the elders of Kamareddy while moving towards the public meeting venue. He also paid floral tributes to the statues of Baba Saheb Dr B R Ambedkar and former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. Later, he was felicitated by the party leaders and workers of Nizamabad district. (INN)
