Mumbai: Veteran and versatile actor Shabana Azmi will soon be seen in Showtime series Halo to be produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment.
The Hollywood production will kick off later this year.
The actress will play as the head of the office of Naval Intelligence, which is named as Admiral Margeret Parangosky. Director Otto Bathurst will be shooting the series in Budapest.
Halo is also going to feature Natascha McElhone, Bokeem Woodbine, Bentley Kalu, Natasha Culzac, and Kate Kennedy, reported Variety.
McElhone will star as two characters—Dr Catherine Halsey, the creator of the Spartan super-soldiers, and Cortana, the most advanced AI in human history—while Woodbine will essay the role of Soren-066 is an adaptation of the mega-hit video game of the same name ‘Halo’.
At the same time, she will be featuring in Faraz Arif Ansari’s next LGBTQ drama Sheer Qorma as a mother. The movie also stars Swara Bhasker and Divya Dutta in lead roles.
Azmi, 68, is an accomplished actor and well known a human right activist. She has earlier featured in numerous international releases which include the all time favorite Madame Sousatzka, La Nuit Bengali, City of Joy and Son of Pink Panther. She has also starred in TV shows Banglatown Banquet, Capital and Next of Kin—a six-part series.
Halo is a military sci-fi first-person shooter video game franchise that centers around an interstellar war between humanity and an alien contingent.
