Laylatul qadr (night of power) also known as Shab-e-qadr was observed with great religious fervour in Hyderabad. Believers thronged the mosque in large numbers to offer prayers. Shab-e-Qadr enjoys great importance and reverence as the Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) on this blessed night.
Mosques were packed with the faithful men and women alike. The historical Makkah masjid drew more than 12000 worshipers and the Azizia Masjid in Mehdipatnam had a gathering of thousands. Police security was beefed up at sensitive areas in view of congregational prayers on Shab-e-Qadr.
The worshiper wake up for the whole night engaged in the acts of worshiping and beseeching the Almighty, calling upon his benevolence for forgiving their sins. Many generous donors send tea and snacks to the mosques to help the worshipers in keeping them awake for the ibadahs.
