SFI slams govt for neglecting to implement RTE act

Students’ Federation of India (SFI) city president M. Nageswara Rao has criticized the State government for failing to implement Right To Education Act 2009 in the State.

Students’ Federation of India city unit organized a round table on here on Thursday. Nageswara Rao said that the Right To Education Act 2009 was enforced in 2009 and the Supreme Court had directed the State and Central governments to fill 25 percent seats with poor in the private schools. He also alleged that the State government has failed to provide infrastructure and basic amenities like drinking water, toilets and furniture in the schools. He criticized the State government for failing to monitor and control the activities of corporate educational institutions in the State.

Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts Private Schools Association president Sekhar Reddy and Goutham education institutions chairman Venkata Narayana welcomed the Right To Education Act -2009. They appealed to the State government to formulate rules and regulations and implement the Act effectively.

Urban Human Rights Association State president Srinivasa Reddy, Lawyers Unions members Ramachandra Reddy, Suresh Kumar, CITU leader Nageswar and DYFI secretary Vijay Kumar also spoke. (NSS)
