SFI demands hike in mess charges, plans dharna at Indira Park on Sept. 19

Hyderabad: The Student Federation India (SFI), Telangana State committee today announced that a Chalo Hyderabad and a Maha Dharna will be organized at Indira Park here on September 19 in pursuance of its demands like hike in mess charges, cosmotic charges, scholarships, own buildings for government hostels, improvement of basic facilities in hostels and release of pending scholarship, fee reimbursement dues to the students.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, SFI State president Kota Ramesh, vice-president M. Nageshwar Rao and State secretary B. Sambashiva demanded that the State government increase mess charges of school students to Rs 2,000 and college students to Rs 2,500 per month in conformity with the rising prices of essential commodities. They also urged the government to hike cosmetic charges for girls in hostels to Rs 300 and boys Rs 200. They also urged the government to scholarship amount to college students to Rs 1,500 and release pending fee reimbursement and scholarship amounts. The SFI leaders demanded that the government fill the vacant teaching and non-teaching posts of wardens and teachers. (NSS)
