Hyderabad: In a joint operation, officials of the Directorate of Medical & Health, Ranga Reddy District and Yacharam police exposed an eight-member gang, including five RMPs, which was conducting sex determination tests under the veil of unauthorized ultrasound scanning center and six accused, including a woman were arrested on Friday and two were absconding.
According to Rachakonda Ibrahimpatnam Division ACP, the principal accused Naroju Kumar Swamy, an RMP, conspired to earn easy money by scanning the foetus and determining sex before delivery. The eight accused have conspired with each other and lured the gullible people and conceived women to be scanned for sex determination tests at Saritha Scanning Center for getting handsome amounts.
The accused were identified as Naroju Kumaraswamy, RMP, Gangarapu Uday Raju (absconding), J Raghav Reddy (absconding), Naroju Saritha, wife of main accused, Kambalapally Mallesh of Balaji clinic, Thoute Venkatesham of Prasad clinic at Loyapally, Gundlapally Srinivas, RMP, Aitipamula Ravi, RMP. They were booked under Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act-2014. Of them, six were arrested and Uday Raju and J Raghav Reddy were absconding and a search was on for them, who supplied scanning machines to the centre.
On a tip-off on January 23, the District Medical & Health authorities of Ranga Reddy District, raided the Saritha Scan Center attached to the Venkateshwara Clinic at Mall, Yacharam. Yacharam police also accompanied the DMH officials in the raid and seized a sonography scanner, printer and other equipments and registered an FIR. (NSS)
