New Delhi: Air India (AI) has expanded its spot fare scheme, wherein unsold seats are offered at Rajdhani AC II-tier rates four hours before a flight’s departure.
The scheme will now also be available on:
Delhi-Ranchi-Delhi
Delhi-Ahmedabad-Delhi
Delhi-Hyderabad-Delhi
Delhi-Bhubaneshwar-Delhi
Delhi-Goa-Delhi
Delhi-Patna-Delhi
Delhi-Raipur-Delhi routes
The scheme, which started on July 10, initially applied to key metro routes of Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Chennai, Delhi-Bengaluru and Delhi-Kolkata.
“On account of the popular response and with an aim to enhance growth, the scheme has been extended to other sectors,” said an AI official.
“The ticket fares on these routes will be:
Delhi-Ranchi- Rs 2,770
Delhi-Ahmedabad- Rs 2,270
Delhi-Hyderabad- Rs 3,275
Delhi-Bhubaneshwar- Rs 3,475
Delhi-Goa- Rs 3,665
Delhi-Patna- Rs 2,315
Delhi-Raipur- Rs 2,240,” AI said.
“These fares would be available for sale within four hours of the scheduled departure of the flights. These fares are available for sale through city and airport booking offices, AI call centre and website,” the airline said.\
“By introducing these fares, we are not only able to generate additional revenue but also able to fill each and every seat till the last minute.”
AI chairman and managing director Ashwani Lohani said “The move was taken to provide flying at low, affordable costs to last-minute passengers”.
The scheme comes after the national carrier last month floated a limited period scheme to fly unconfirmed passengers of Rajdhani trains at fares matching with the AC first class ticket prices.
